Fried Tilapia or any kind of fried fish is easy to cook. I’m sure that we all have our own ways of frying fish. I am sharing this recipe post just so you know how I do it. There is nothing special in my method. In fact, most of you might be doing the same thing.
Fried Tilapia Ingredients:
👩🏾🍳 1 large tilapia ( mine was 900 g).
Dry rub mixture:
👩🏾🍳 1 teaspoon salt.
👩🏾🍳 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
👩🏾🍳 1 teaspoon smoked paprika.
👩🏾🍳 1 teaspoon freshly grated black pepper.
👩🏾🍳 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg.
Methods:
👩🏾🍳 Scale, trim , wash the fish and dry well with paper towel. ( I buy already trimmed and scaled fish)
👩🏾🍳 With a sharp knife, make 3 to 5 slashes down each side of the fish body.
👩🏾🍳 Rub the dry spices all over the fish making sure you get into each cut and inside. Cover with cling film and place in the fridge to marinade for a minimum of 30 minutes. 2 hours if you have time.
👩🏾🍳 When ready to fry, remove fish from fridge at least 20 minutes before cooking to get to room temperature.
👩🏾🍳 Heat about 2.5 cm of oil in a large pan over medium to high heat, once hot add the fish to the oil and fry for about 7 to 10 minutes on each side depending on fish size and how crispy you like your fish. For additional seasoning, I added onion and a chilli to the oil and these will infuse into the fish while cooking.
